Cathodic Protection

Purpose

Protection of underground metal structures (oil pipelines, gas pipelines and other pipelines for various purposes, public utilities, tanks, storage facilities and other facilities) from electrochemical corrosion, including in soils with increased aggressiveness.

Features

  • Designed for outdoor placement, climatic version U, placement category 1.

  • Built on a block basis. The power blocks are made according to the scheme of an inverter converter with a power factor corrector. The power blocks of the converter are connected in parallel. In the event of failure of one or more units, the plant's operability is ensured within the limits of the total capacity of serviceable units. Depending on the versions, the station is equipped with power units with a capacity of 0.75 kW; 1.0 kW; 1.2 kW.

  • High coefficient of performance.

  • Information exchange of signals with telemechanics systems is carried out:

    • via a physical two-wire line via a serial digital RS-485 interface using the MODBUS exchange protocol;

    • through the built-in communication modem via GSM/GPRS-channels of mobile communication.

  • Increased degree of protection against atmospheric (lightning) surges.

Operating conditions

Provide reliable and stable operation under the influence of the following climatic factors:

  • the upper value of the ambient air temperature is +45 °С;

  • the lower value of the ambient air temperature is minus 45 °С;

  • the upper value of the relative humidity of the ambient air is 98%.

Design

  • Anti-vandal cabinet with a placed control unit and quick-detachable power units.

  • Degree of protection IP34 according to GOST 14254–2015.

  • Reliable electrical contact with the cable without the use of ferrules and other types of termination of cores with a cross section of up to 35 mm2.

  • Correspond to class 01 GOST 12.2.007.0-75 according to the method of protecting a person from electric shock.

  • Protected against rodents and reptiles.

  • Comply with fire safety requirements according to GOST 12.1.004-91.

Functionality

  • Provide work in the following modes:

    • automatic maintenance of the total protective potential;

    • automatic maintenance of the polarization protective potential;

    • output current stabilization;

    • stabilization of the output voltage.

  • The stations provide the ability to switch to the double rated output voltage mode when the rated output current is reduced to 0.5 IN. Switching to the doubled output voltage mode is carried out by setting the jumpers in the appropriate positions on the station's patch panel.

  • Provide output current limitation in case of overload.

  • Remain operational in the range of supply voltages from 150 V to 264 V.

  • Provide inclusion in the previously set mode after a short-term and long-term loss of mains voltage.

  • Have lightning surge protection.

  • Switch to the stabilization mode of the previously set output current when the reference electrode circuit breaks.

  • Provide separate accounting of the total operating time and operating time in the structure protection mode.

  • Provide metering of electricity consumption by a built-in electricity meter of accuracy class 1,0.

  • Have control sockets for connecting external measuring devices.

  • Have protection against external and internal short circuits and protection when the supply voltage goes beyond the range of 150 ÷ 264 V.

  • Ensure the level of radio interference at the terminals for connecting to the mains, not exceeding the values established by GOST 30804.6.4-2013.

  • The noise level does not exceed 60 dBA.

Joint work with telemechanics complexes

  • Connection to telemechanics devices for telemetry functions and remote control of output parameters via RS-485 interface (MODBUS RTU protocol).

  • To connect to telemechanics systems via a current interface (4-20mA), a signal converter for linear telemechanics systems is installed in the station.

  • There is a galvanic isolation for telemechanics circuits.

Purpose

Designed for cathodic protection of underground metal structures (oil pipelines, gas pipelines and other pipelines for various purposes, public utilities, tanks, storage facilities and other objects) from electrical corrosion, incl. in soils with increased aggressiveness, as well as in the zone of influence of stray currents.

Features

  • Rectifiers are designed for outdoor placement, climatic version U, placement category 1.

  • The ability to measure and maintain the polarization potential.

  • Due to new design solutions, as well as the use of new modern materials and components, they have smaller overall dimensions and weight.

  • Separate accounting of the total operating time and operating time in the structure protection mode.

  • The designs of rectifiers provide for the possibility of using them in various systems equipped with a telemechanics complex.

  • Rectifier circuits provide drainage of stray currents from the protected structure (pipe) to the anode ground electrode.

  • Designed to operate with a load resistance ranging from 0.1R(nom.) to 6R(nom.), where R(nom.) = U(out.nom.) / I(out.nom.).

  • Remain operational when the potential difference measurement circuit is broken. In this case, the rectifiers go into the current stabilization mode, the value of which is set by the "CURRENT" resistor of the control unit.

  • Allow at the input of the measuring circuit an interference signal of an alternating voltage with a frequency of 50 and 100 Hz with an amplitude of up to 10 V.

  • Have protection against external and internal short circuits and overload protection.

  • Reliably get into operation after short-term power failures with automatic restoration of the operating mode.

  • Have an automatic reclosing device (AR) to work in case of disconnection by overload protection.

  • Remain operational when the supply voltage drops to 160 V.

  • Have protection against surges caused by lightning discharges (both from the power supply side and the load side), with pulse parameters: front / duration - 8/20 μs and energy up to 40 J.

  • Provide an additional steady-state deviation of the measured potential difference when the supply voltage changes by every 1 V in normal climatic conditions, not more than ±0.02%.

  • Provide an additional steady-state deviation of the measured potential difference when the air temperature changes at a rated supply voltage of not more than ± 0.05% / ° С.

  • The input resistance of the potential difference measurement circuit is at least 10 MΩ.

  • Provide accounting for electricity consumption by a built-in electricity meter.

  • Provide the possibility of long-term continuous operation without preventive maintenance and repair for at least 6 months.

Design

  • Cables are supplied from below through special branch pipes. It is recommended to seal the pipes with polyurethane foam.

Lightning protection unit

Purpose

Protection against the impact of atmospheric overvoltages of input, output and measuring circuits of stations for cathodic protection of underground metal structures.

Features

  • Single-phase SPDs of class I+II according to GOST R 51992-2011 (IEC 61643-1-05) are used as surge protection.

  • Comply with the requirements of GOST R 51321.1-2007.

  • Manufactured in UHL climatic version, placement category 4.

Design

  • The unit is made in the form of a cabinet with a lockable door.

  • The cabinet door opens at an angle of at least 120°, providing convenient access to the devices during installation and maintenance of the units. Degree of protection - IP30 according to GOST 14254-2015.

  • Cooling natural air. Cooling medium - air corresponding to atmosphere I, II according to GOST 15150.

  • At the bottom of the cabinet there are cable entries with a diameter of 25 mm (2 pcs.) and 20 mm (6 pcs.).

  • The input and output clamps of the block provide connection of single-wire and multi-wire cable conductors without the use of lugs.

  • Maximum allowable cross-section of conductors:

    • supply network 16 mm2.

Operating conditions

  • Provide reliable and stable operation under the influence of the following climatic factors:

    • ambient operating temperature range: from minus 10 °С to +35 °С;

    • the upper value of the relative air humidity is 80% at a temperature of +25 °С;

    • atmospheric pressure 650-800 mm Hg. Art.; – atmosphere type I, II according to GOST 15150-69.

Diode-resistor blocks

Cathodic Protection

Purpose

Diode-resistor blocks BDRM are designed for joint electrochemical protection of several underground metal structures from one SKZ.

  • Can be used as a polarized drain and adjustable resistors with diodes to eliminate the harmful mutual influence of adjacent communications with separate protection.

  • Can be used to distribute the protective current from the rectifier to several (up to four) underground separate structures.

  • Availability of versions with channels both direct (diode cathodes are combined with the input) and reverse conduction (diode anodes are combined with the input). In this case, the presence of channels of different conductivity is allowed in one BDRM.

  • Availability of versions with a built-in measuring device for monitoring the current in each channel.

Features

  • Manufactured in climatic version UHL, location category 1 and are intended for outdoor installation.

Operating conditions

Provide reliable and stable operation under the influence of the following climatic factors:

  • the upper value of the ambient air temperature is +45 °С;

  • the lower value of the ambient air temperature is minus 60 °С;

  • the upper value of the relative humidity of the ambient air is 98% at a temperature of +25 °С.

Functionality

  • Allow to maintain the required protective potential from one SKZ on all protected structures by setting the appropriate resistance in the channels of the BDRM unit.

  • Allow to maintain the required protective potential on the couplings and communication cables from the RMS connected to the pipeline.

  • Can be used as polarized drain and adjustable resistors with diodes.

  • Have effective protection against lightning discharges.

Design

  • Placed in a frameless cabinet with increased vandal resistance.

  • The required amount of current on the protected underground structure is provided by changing the resistance of the channel by switching the jumpers.

  • Blocks are installed on a horizontal base (foundation, frame, etc.). In addition, the units can be mounted on uprights using the supplied clamps.

  • The design of the terminal clamps allows the connection of wires and cables, both terminated and without termination.

  • It is recommended to seal the pipes with polyurethane foam.

  • Reliable electrical contact with the load cable without the use of lugs and other types of termination of conductors with a cross section of up to 35 mm2.

  • According to the method of protecting a person from electric shock, they correspond to class 01 GOST 12.2.007.0-75.

  • Meet all fire safety requirements.

Electrodrainage polarized

Purpose

Electric drains polarized resistor type EDP "Topol" are designed to divert stray currents from underground metal structures to the rail of DC electric transport.

Features

  • Designed for outdoor installation, climatic version U, placement category 1.

  • The principle of operation is based on maintaining the required potential at the protected structure by diverting stray currents from this structure to the rail of electric railway transport through diode-resistor drainage sections.

  • Regulation of the draining current is carried out by changing the number of operating sections.

Operating conditions

Provide reliable and stable operation under the influence of the following climatic factors:

  • the upper value of the ambient air temperature is +45 °С;

  • the lower value of the ambient air temperature is minus 45 °С;

  • the upper value of the relative humidity of the ambient air is 98% at a temperature of +25 °С.

  • The current value is measured by the built-in ammeter.

  • Have lightning protection.

  • When replacing diodes, they do not need to be selected according to the identity of the current-voltage characteristics.

Cathodic Protection

Purpose

Designed to indicate the route for the location of underground pipelines and control the parameters of electrochemical protection in accordance with GOST R 51164-98 and GOST 9.602-2005, as well as for connecting the components of ECP systems at the site of operation in accordance with project documentation.

Can be placed on the linear parts of underground pipelines, at industrial sites of gas distribution stations, gas distribution points, at gas and oil production facilities, underground storage facilities for gas, oil and oil products and other facilities with underground steel structures.

Features

  • Made using pipes from a non-combustible polymer material - polyvinyl chloride.

  • Designed for outdoor placement.

  • The design of the signal dome allows air to escape from the interior of the rack and chassis to prevent condensation from forming on internal components and electrical devices.

  • Do not require painting during operation.

  • Provide measurement of the polarization and total potential on the protected structure at the place of operation.

Design

  • Produced in 2 types with different cross sections: triangular with equal sides (edges) 180 mm and square with equal sides (edges) 180 mm.

  • Have an anchor device that prevents the removal of instrumentation from the ground. For installation in soft soils, they can be equipped with a support (400x400 mm), which ensures stability and reliable fastening in all types of soil, including weakened and marshy ones. Mounted on a support and attached to it with two pipes of the anchor device through the holes in the rack and support.

  • For objects of different purposes, instrumentation is manufactured with signal caps of the following colors: yellow (main pipelines), red (gas distribution facilities), green (underground storage facilities), blue (oil and gas production facilities).

  • Equipped with a retractable stand for placing an external measuring device and tools in the "field" conditions. During operation, the stand is retracted inside the rack.

  • Free entry of electric cables from two opposite directions and from one direction is provided.

  • Typical electrical terminals are used to ensure reliable contact with the supply cables.

  • Have a control panel containing terminals for connecting an external measuring device and a switching device (switch) for conducting control measurements of the polarization potential.

  • The housing fits snugly against the rack in the operating position and is securely locked with a built-in lock using the same type of key with a secret.

  • The housing opens upwards and provides accessibility from all sides to the terminals and cables.

  • The design of the kilometer sign (route indicator) makes it possible to install it on the instrumentation for applying the previous and subsequent kilometer mark of the main pipeline route.

  • The kilometer sign is supplied in the instrumentation kit when specified in the order and installed at the place of operation.

  • The degree of protection of instrumentation in the closed (operational) position of the housing with a signal cap is IP23 in accordance with GOST 14254-96.
